“Kuta is madness, Sanur is sterile, and Nusa Dua is culturally isolated; Ubud is the place to go”, it’s a nice quote from a visitor.
My journey, February 6, 2010 we traveled to Ubud by motorcycle. Ubud is located 35 kilometers from North East Kute. It is famous with its painters, carvers and some other arts. The weather itself is cool enough since there are many trees (like a jungle) and rice fields which make it beautiful.
We started the trip in the morning at about a half pass nine after having breakfast. We met at jurgan’s boarding house first. The people were me, bram, nkong, dapit, ola, pram, jus, tanti, miko, yoyok and his friend. When we were ready to go, the weather was a little bit rainy, but we were still been firm to continue the trip that had been planned previous weeks before.
Actually there were no specific destinations to be visited since we hadn’t decided yet. We just came there and if there was any tourism object, then we would drop by there. It took about two hours to reach Ubud from Kute then we arrived at the first tourism object that was Bali Bird and Reptile Park.
There was a special ticket for that week for people who bring his/her Kipem (Kartu Penduduk Musiman) would be charged fifty thousand rupiah and the others would be charged eighty thousand rupiah. Not all of us brought our Kipem, but it could still lighten total of the ticket price. In there we could see some various birds from some places such as Indonesian birds plus fantastic birds from Africa & South America. There was also a short 3D movie there without any additional cost, then we continued to the next park beside this park that was reptile park. We could see some reptiles such as snake, iguana, lizard, biawak, crocodile and some other reptiles.
We had our lunch at Nurish cafe at about two o’clock. That time we could get a table quick enough and the order was served quick enough too since it is usually full of visitors. The food price had been still the same since the last time I came there.
After having lunch, we continued the trip to Monkey Forest. Monkey Forest is located in Padangtegal that represents a sacred Balinese Hindu site. The ticket price was twenty thousand. In there we could see plenty monkeys inside the jungle with a small waterfall in it. The monkeys were not aggressive as the ones in Sangeh Forest that is told by people. I saw their natural activities such as walk, play, run, find other’s louse, catch each other, sleep, etc. The weather was nice for walking around. At about five o’clock we decided to go home.
Thank to nkong for the photos.
